The Christian needs spiritual food – the Bible

To walk with God as he/she grows

It also delights the heart of God to talk and call His name

Prayer is talking to God as a child would talk to his/her natural father.

Jesus prayed to the Father (in the garden) Mk.14:36

…Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee: take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

The three “P”s

  • Privilege
  • Powerful
  • Produces

– Privilege

Have you ever seen prayer as a privilege?

Look at the song writer pg.32 5th parag

– Powerful

Look at James 5:15b “….The effectual fervent prayer os a righteous man availeth much”

Look at pg.32 the OT man who prayed to God

Highlight the three stars (pg.32)

Ask the question, how do you pray?

  • Take time everyday
  • Take it with God alone
  • Take this period for devotion

Before studying, pray to the Lord. Express how you feel and what you desire.

Make sure it doesn’t become mechanical, God is Real and your praying should be real.

Children’s prayer, “Now I lay me down to sleep; I pray the God my soul to keep, if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take”

Look at ACTS: pg.33

PROBLEMS IN YOUR PRAYER LIFE

Can get discourage at times when our prayer (s) are not immediately answered (discuss).

Some people get so discourage that they actually stop praying.

  • Similar to stop going to church when times are hard.

Be sure of one thing, if you are in fellowship with God, God has heard your prayer.

God answers prayer in three ways:

Yes; No; and Wait…
